1 Force and Mass vs. Speed Distance
8.P.2A.1 Force and Mass vs. Speed Distance

2 Speed A measure of how fast something moves a particular distance over a certain amount of time. V=d/t v=Speed/Velocity d=Distance t=Time

3 Speed SPEED DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE MOVING FAST.
We can determine speed in several ways. A word problem (Ex. Patrick walks 25 m in 5 seconds what is his speed?) Collecting data and measuring both distance and time Distance-Time Graph

4 Velocity Velocity can be positive or negative.
Velocity MUST have a direction. You use the EXACT SAME FORMULA to find velocity that you do speed.

5 Acceleration The rate at which velocity changes
Acceleration occurs when: An object changes speed (going faster or slower) An object changes direction Acceleration = Final Speed – Initial Speed Time

6 Distance Time-Graph A graph that represents the speed of an object based on the distance the object moves and the time it takes to move.

7 Distance Time Graph You can determine:
Average Speed (Total Distance ÷ Total Time) If the object moves at a constant speed Speed for a specific part of the journey Total Distance Traveled Displacement

8 In what section are they traveling the fastest?
