2 THE BLUE TIT The blue tit is 11.5cm long The blue tit likes to eat insects, spiders and nuts. The blue tit is one of the most common garden birds. The blue tit has a white face with black edging. The blue tit is related to the great tit.

3 BLACKBIRD The blackbird is 25cm long. The female blackbird is dull brown with a dark bill. The blackbird likes apples and worms. The blackbird is a member of the thrush family. The blackbird has the noisiest song in the down chorus.

4 THE ROBIN The robin is 14cm long in size. Robins eat insects, spiders, seeds and fruit. Robins are also very fond of cheese. When the chicks are 2 months old they begin to fly. Only males sing during the breeding season.

5 THE WREN The wren is 9.5cm long. The wren has a rattling alarm call. The wren eats insects, spiders and seeds. The wren holds its tail cocked over its back. The wren has a creamy breast and brown back.

6 THE ROOK The rook is 46cm long. The rook is a familiar bird of farm lands. The rooks call is a harsh kaw. The young rook has bare skin around its beak. Rooks are omnivores.

7 THE GOLDFINCH The goldfinch is 12cm long. The adult has a red and white face. The males song is twittering but contains call-like elements. The goldfinch eats seeds, thistles and teasels. Usually seen in small flocks.

8 GREEN FINCH The green finch is 15cm long. It is likely to nest wherever there are trees and bushes. The green finches call is a wheezy sound. The green finch eats nuts and seeds. A frequent visitor to gardens.

9 THE HOUSE SPARROW The house sparrow is a very familiar bird. Lives near houses and even in city center. Often seen in flocks. The house sparrow is 15cm long. He goes places wherever there are scraps.

10 THE CHAFFINCH Chaffinches eat fruits, berries, insects, spiders and grains. His length is 14.5cm (6 inches) long. Wing span=24.5-28cm (10-11 ½ inches). Weight=18-29g (3/4-1 oz. The colour of there eggs are pale blue with pink and brownish speckling.

11 THE SONG THRUSH Found near or in trees or bushes. Adults show dark borders to the ear coverts while the spotting on the throat forms. Wings show pale buff edges to coverts. A common bird of gardens. The song thrush is 23cm long.

12 THE MAGPIE An adult magpie is 45cm long. (18-24in) long and weighs 145-210g Magpies eat insects, fruit, young birds and eggs. The magpie is most closely related to the crow. Magpies are black and white.

13 THE GREAT TIT The great tit is 14cm long. The great tit is common in woodlands and gardens. The great tit has bold black and white markings on its hear. The great tit is often seen at bird feeders.
