The Assyrian War Machine
Hammurabi’s death gave the Assyrians the confidence to conquer many lands; Between 1,400 and 600 B.C.E. Assyria fought with Babylon and conquered other city-states, reaching as far as Egypt. Assyrian armies developed special war tools, like siege towers, battering rams and horse-drawn chariots that allowed them to knock down city walls.

Continued: The Assyrians used bronze weapons to defeat the Babylonians; They respected Babylon’s culture and way of life, however; They preserved Babylon’s culture, language and ideas by keeping their records in the royal library of Nineveh; The Assyrians developed aqueducts which brought water from a great distance.
