What is a Wind Farm?
A wind farm is a large area of land on which there are a number of wind turbines generating electricity.

How does it work ?
The wind turns the turbine blades.
The turbine blades turn an electrical generator.
This creates electrical energy or electricity.

6. Is wind power renewable?
Yes, wind power is renewable.
The wind must blow at a minimum of 16km/h for it to work.

You get four types of wind farms:
On Shore
Near Shore
Off Shore
In certain inland areas

What are the Advantages?
Wind is free.
Wind turbines are easy to maintain, so this does not cost a lot of money.
It can be used in areas where there is no electricity supplied by Eskom.
A wind turbine takes up little space.
Wind turbines produce energy with minimal damage to the world’s environment and produces "clean power“.
