OVERVIEW OF CHAPTERS 8-11 The transition from Israel to the Gentiles (chapter 8); the salvation of the missionary to the Gentiles (chapter 9); the transition to the Gentiles confirmed by apostolic authority (chapter 10); the transition from Jerusalem to Antioch (chapter 11.)

Act 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

CRITICAL POINT: Take notice that the Gospel of Jesus Christ (1 Corinth 15:1-4) has not once been uttered out of the mouths of anyone in these first 7 chapters

Act 2: Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Act 2: And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Act 3: But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

Act 3:26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. Act 4:4 Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

Act 4: Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Act 4: And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

Act 5: And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things. And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people

Act 5: Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Act 7: When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

First, believers witness in “all Judaea.” (8:1c)
Second, Philip preaches the Kingdom of God (the spiritual kingdom that resides inside of a believer) to “the Samaritans,” who are half-Jew and half-Gentile. (8:5) And third, the witness extends to “the uttermost,” as Philip preaches to a full-blooded Gentile on his way home from a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. (8:27,28)

Acts 1–6 – God is offering the King and the Kingdom of Heaven to the Nation of Israel.
Acts 7 – Israel rejects the King and the Kingdom of Heaven for the third time. Acts 8 – God makes an orderly transition from Jews to Samaritans, Samaritans to Gentiles. Acts 9 – The transition from Peter, the apostle to the Jews, to Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. Acts 10 – God’s transition to the Gentiles is confirmed by the apostolic authority of Peter. Acts 11- God transitions from Jerusalem to Antioch

Rom 11: For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

1 Saul consented to the death of STEPHEN and it was at this time a great PERSECUTION came against the Church in JERUSALEM.

2 All the disciples were scattered abroad, except the APOSTLES.

3 Saul made havock of the church; the same zeal that he had for persecuting the church was going to be used by God to preach the GOSPEL.

Act 11: When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.

4 The APOSTLE Philip, now comes onto the scene as he goes down to Samaria to preach the Gospel.

Act 6:5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip…. Mat 10:3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; …. Act 1:13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas…

5 The time had come for the MESSAGE to be taken to Samaria, just as Jesus had told them to do.

Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

6 Philip performs many SIGNS and WONDERS in Samaria.

7 A false sorcerer shows up also performing SIGNS and WONDERS but was rather DECIEVING the people.

8 Take note this is the first reference to the KINGDOM of GOD since Acts 1:3,8; 8:12

9 Question to ponder: Simon believed but did he get SAVED?
