vs. 1-5 Hallelujah! First reason for “hallelujah” shouts- Babylon has fallen! Understanding what Babylon is, we know why God has used it to perfect the saints The celebration is because the testing is over, she is now judged

vs. 6-7 Hallelujah! Second reason for “hallelujah” shouts- Christ has come in glory to take for Himself His bride The marriage has come AND the bride has made herself ready

vs. 8 How does the bride make herself ready? Two-fold aspect: Fine linen has been given to her to wear This is justification: the doctrine that God alone justifies sinners by giving them His righteousness by His sovereign grace

vs. 8 How does the bride make herself ready? Two-fold aspect: Fine linen stands for the “righteous acts of the saints” This is sanctification: being part of the bride is not just a matter of receiving righteousness as a gift but living in that righteousness through a transformed life

vs. 8 How does the bride make herself ready? Two-fold aspect: My standing with God is based solely on his justifying grace! But the evidence that I am justified is that I now perform righteous deeds which are evident to all—because I ‘bear fruit’

vs. 9-10 The Wedding! EVEN NOW those who are INVITED are blessed! The feast lasts for eternity The Lord’s Supper is a pre-enactment of the Wedding Supper of the Lamb Every time we take it we are looking forward to that day when we take it together in the Kingdom of God
