3 Uniform Pupils wear school uniform.

4 The school day begins. Some schools have a breakfast club for children who arrive at school early when their parents go to work. Most children arrive at about 8.45am and a teacher blows a whistle to signal the start of the day.

5 Children hang their coats and bags up in the cloakroom.

6 Morning At 9.00am the teacher takes the register. Children are marked as present or absent. After registration the whole school comes together for assembly. The children listen to a story told by a teacher or another class. They hear the school’s news. Sometimes they sing a song.

7 The first lesson usually begins at 9.30am.
Break time is at 10.30am. Children can have a carton of milk which their parents pay for in advance. Children are allowed to bring a biscuit as a snack.

8 Lunch time Lunch time is 12.30pm until 1.30pm.
Children can either bring their own packed lunch or have a school dinner. Dinner ladies supervise the children during lunch time. All children stay at school during lunch time.

9 Playground

10 Home time School finishes at 3.30pm.
The lollypop lady or man helps children cross the road safely.
