7. Igneous Rocks When magma cools and hardens, it forms igneous rocks.
Magma is molten rock found inside and near volcanoes! It forms from rocks that get so hot that they melt.

Intrusive: Formed from magma that cools deep below the Earth’s crust
Inner/lower layers
Extrusive: Formed from magma that cools on the Earth’s surface

Intrusive Igneous Rocks are made of large crystals.
Because the magma cools slowly and allows large crystals to form

Crystals have a fine-grained texture
Example: Obsidian, Basalt, Pumice
