2 Assisted Suicide in MICHIGAN
Michigan Law (1993) Causing a person by force to commit suicide is murder. Causing, by force or coercion, a person to attempt suicide is attempted murder. Doing any of the following with the intent to assist someone in a suicide is a felony punishable by up to 4 years in prison and/or a fine of $2000: 1. Provide the means by which an individual attempts or commits suicide 2. Participate in an act by which an individual attempts or commits suicide 3. Help an individual plan to attempt or commit suicide This does not apply to providing pain medications with the intent to relieve pain and not to cause death.

3 Oregon Law Terminally-ill patients who wish to obtain a prescription under the Oregon, Washington, or Vermont law must be a resident of one of the three states and follow a series of steps in order to be certified. Among other requirements, a patient must be: 18 years of age or older, a resident of Oregon, Washington, or Vermont; capable of making and communicating health care decisions for him/herself; and diagnosed with a terminal illness that will lead to death within six months. Two physicians must determine whether these criteria have been met. Request Timeline : First oral request to your physician 15 day waiting period Second oral request to your physician Written request to your physician 48 hour waiting period before you can pick up your prescribed medications Patient may pick up prescribed medications from the pharmacy

7 Work on/improve your levels of homicide packet from yesterday
Take a notecard from your box in the center of your tables You will use the notecard to write your own scenario of a particular level of homicide Write a story/scenario- MAKE SURE IT’S CORRECT. Be creative underneath the story write the name of the type your story shows I will read these and we will see if the rest of the class can pick the correct category. I number several notecards while students worked on worksheets
