Chi-Squared test AP Biology

Learning objective Apply the chi squared test using the Dice experiment. *Essential Question: How can we analyze results of experiments and when do we accept hypothesis or reject it?

NULL HYPOTHESIS: The hypothesis is termed the null hypothesis which states That there is NO difference between observed and expected values.

Examples of null hypothesis
Tomato plants exhibit a higher rate of growth when planted in compost rather than in soil. Null hypothesis: H0: Tomato plants do not exhibit a higher rate of growth when planted in compost rather than soil.

Chi Squared FORMULA:

Chi-squared analysis helps us to
Know if our null hypothesis is accepted or rejected. Know if the collected data is by chance or the variables are affecting it.

Degrees of freedom and critical value

Dice activity
