5 The Canterbury Tales One of the first books ever to be written in English About the journey of pilgrims Chaucer planned to write 120 tales, but managed to complete only 24

6 Chaucer began to write the stories in the 1380s
Two of the stories are written in prose and the others in verse Characters from different classes: a knight, a cook, a sailor, a farmer etc.
