Oxidative Gold Catalysis: a “Golden” Strategy to Structural Complexity

Dr. Zhang received his BS degree in organic chemistry from Nanchang University in He got his PhD in chemistry at University of Michigan under the supervision of Prof. Masato Koreed in After that, he joined Prof. Sergey A. Kozmin’s group at University of Chicago as a Postdoc Fellow. In 2009, Dr. Zhang started his assistant professorship in University of California at Santa Barbara, and was appointed as Associate Professor and full Professor in 2011 and 2013, respectively.
Dr. Zhang’s research group at UCSB is interested in both development of novel chemical transformations, especially those of transition-metal catalysis, and total synthesis of natural products with significant biological activities. The group is currently working on Au-catalyzed tandem reactions, phosphoranyl radical-mediated deoxygenative reactions, and Natural Products Synthesis. Dr. Zhang has already published over 100 papers in many highly impacted chemistry journals such as Chem. Soc. Rev., J. Am. Chem. Soc., and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.
