Gomez & Naphtali David Rishe, PhD Goals for the FIU PBRN Enhance Translational Research capabilities in Ambulatory Care Settings Advance Evidence-Based Practice Model Improve quality of care by enabling better decision support at point of care Develop programs for supporting Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) Create technology platforms for advancing the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH)

6 Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN)
A set of standards, services and policies that enable secure Health Information Exchange (HIE) over the Internet Provide a foundation for the exchange of health information across diverse entities in communities across the country; critical part of National Health IT Agenda CONNECT Implements NHIN standards and governance Built by 20 federal agencies - managed by Federal Health Architecture (FHA) Open source software gateway Supports Health Information Exchange (local & national). Ensures HIEs are compatible with other exchanges NHIN and CONNECT are managed by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT) in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS).
