3 Soil Background One of the most important natural resources
All living things depend on soil to live as a source of food Plants depend on soil to anchor their roots and provide water and nutrients All of our food can be traced back to plants that grow in the soil

4 Soil Background Land is a limited resource
A farmer in United States produce enough food to feed 129 people in a year Farmers look for maximum production out of their soil at the same time they are trying to protect it for future generations

5 Soil Background As the world population increases each person’s food producing portion of land is becoming smaller Farmers must try to work harder to grow more food on less land It is all of our responsibility to use the soil wisely
