Plants also add oxygen to water.

alder
weeping willow
bamboo
grow along rivers.

bulrush
reed
papyrus
that emerge from water.

5. Other plants such as
lotus flower
water lily
blue water lily
water hyacinth

6. water lettuce
water chestnut
float on the water surface.
Some of these aquatic plants have spreading rhizomes and roots that anchor the plant deep in the mud of the river bed.
