2 Agenda May 25, 2016 10:16-10:30 Welcome Introductory remarks by General Secretary – Review of the Agenda Review of the Procedures for Amending Motions. Adoption of Procedural Resolution Moved: McDonagh Seconded: Baker-Chaulk 10:35-11:25 Introduction & debate: North Korea Motions. 1st Motion – Moved: Philippines/Costa Rica Seconded: United States Related Amendments and Resolutions. As necessary Final Debate and votes on this issue will be at 11:25.

3 Procedural Resolutions
Speakers need to select either one of the following cards: a) GREEN – to show SUPPORT of a motion/amendment B) RED – to show if AGAINST a motion/amendment C) YELLOW – to put forward a procedural resolution. YELLOW CARDS GO IMMEDIATELY TO THE FRONT OF THE SPEAKER LINE. The General Secretary will alternate between GREEN or RED until all have spoken OR all remaining have either RED or GREEN cards OR the General Secretary rules that a vote must be taken due to time.

5 Nuclear Armament in North Korea

6 Motion #1 Be it resolved that member nations of the United Nations may use any measures necessary to enforce a full disarmament in North Korea of all its nuclear weapons, weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. Moved by ; The Philippines Costa Rica Seconded; The United States of America

7 Motion #2 Be it resolved that member nations of the United Nations use economic and diplomatic sanctions, as needed, to bring about North Korean compliance in the disarmament of all its nuclear weapons, weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. Moved by ; Russia Seconded; China

8 Motion #3 Be it resolved that North Korea must return to Six Nations* talks on its nuclear program and consistently be encouraged to disarm all of its nuclear weapons, weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. * Six Nations = North Korea, U.S.A China, Russia, South Korea, Japan Moved by ; Cuba India Seconded; Syria Iraq

9 DAY 2 Amendments Be it resolved that member nations of the United Nations peacefully disarm the North Korean nuclear program. North Korea may reassemble these weapons ONLY if the nations is in a situation of self-defense. Moved by ; Canada Seconded; Russia

We are descended from the pre-colonial/pre-invasion inhabitants of our region. We maintain a close tie to our land in both our cultural and economic practices. We suffer from economic and political marginalization as a minority group. A group is considered Indigenous if it defines itself that way.

12 INDIGENOUS PEOPLES HOLD 20% OF THE EARTH’S LAND MASS.
THAT LAND HARBORS 80% OF THE WORLD’S REMAINING BIODIVERSITY.
