1 Bellwork Solve 1.) p = 2l + 2w for w 2.) a = 1/2bh for b 3.) a = P + Prt for P

2 p - 2l = 2l - 2l + 2w p - 2l = 2w (p-2l)/2 = 2w/2 (p - 2l)/2 = w
Bellwork Solve 1.) p = 2l + 2w for w p - 2l = 2l - 2l + 2w p - 2l = 2w (p-2l)/2 = 2w/2 (p - 2l)/2 = w

3 Bellwork Solve 2.) a = 1/2bh for b (2)a = (2)1/2bh 2a = bh 2a/h = bh/h 2a/h = b

4 a/(1+rt) = P(1+ rt)/(1+ rt) a/(1 + rt) = P
Bellwork Solve 3.) a = P + Prt for P a = P(1 + rt) Distributive Property a/(1+rt) = P(1+ rt)/(1+ rt) a/(1 + rt) = P

5 Ordered Pairs An ordered pair comes in the form (x,y) with x always first and y always second The x value refers to the numbers on the x axis The y value refers to the numbers on the y axis

6 Coordinate Plane The coordinate plane consists of 4 quadrants
Starting in the upper right hand corner with quadrant 1 and moving counterclockwise to quadrant numbers 2, 3, & 4. There are 7 different places in the coordinate plane. What are they?

7 Coordinate Plane Y X Quadrant II Quadrant I Origin Quadrant III
Quadrant IV

8 Plotting Points To plot a point on the x,y axis, always start at the origin. Using the x value, move left or right on the x axis depending on whether the x value is positive or negative. Using the y value, move up or down on the y axis depending on whether the y value is positive or negative.

9 More on plotting points
For every 1 point on a graph it takes two numbers to identify the correct location. Think of a game of Bingo as it needs both a letter and a number to identify the correct square.

10 Plot the Point (2,3) Y up 3 X over 2 (2,3)

11 Plot the Point (-2,-1) Y X (-2, -1)

12 How is each Pt. Different?
Y (-2,2) (2,3) X (3,-1) (-2,-1)

13 Scatter Plots Example 1 page 160 Example 2 page 161

14 Classwork Do worksheet 3.7 Homework (1-5) together pg 163 (6-19)
