2 MAILING ADDRESSES Learning Target: Students will be able to organize a mailing address using US Postal guidelines. * Entrance Ticket #1: Create a mailing address from the paragraph description provided.

3 Things You Need to Know BEFORE you write a mailing address:
The post office and companies like FedEx use mailing addresses to deliver packages and envelopes all over the country. It is important to provide accurate information so that your letters, greeting cards, orders, and packages reach the intended person or company. Using an inaccurate mailing address could result in a missed job opportunity, a lost order of your favorite sneakers, or sending a card with money that never gets to a family member or friend!

4 How do we set up Line 1 of a Mailing Address?
Line 1 should include FULL Names for People (or a Company Name) For people (include the following): _____________________ AND _____________________ What is a title? Examples? _______ - used for all males _______ - unmarried female _______ - married female _______ - adult female, marital status unknown Used by females who prefer a neutral title (similar to Mr. for males) Sometimes used when a female is widowed or divorced

5 How do we set up Line 2 of a Mailing Address?
Street Address Line Street Addresses may use words other than “Street”. Examples: A street address usually has a number before the street name. Use a street address when you receive your mail at home. East Main Street, House #12 Example: Midland Drive, Building number 89 If you get your mail at the Post Office, you will use “PO Box” following by the number on the box:

Order of information in Line 3: City, State Zipcode City/Town/Village Add a comma after the city State Use Abbreviations Zip code 5 digits: _____________ (required) 9 digits: _______________________
