These states formed the Confederate States of America

The Confederate States claimed they were granted the right to secede in the Declaration of Independence
“the government rests upon the consent of the governed, and that it is the right of the people to alter or abolish a government whenever it becomes destructive of the ends for which it was established.”
Basically, we signed off on joining the Union, therefore, we can sign ourselves out.
