2 Contents Glossary Introduction Structure of the Atmosphere.
Chemical composition of the Atmosphere. Conclusion References

3 Glossary The Earth is the third planet from the Sun, and the fifth-largest of the eight planets in the Solar System. The greenhouse effect is the heating of the surface of a planet or moon due to the presence of an atmosphere containing gases that absorb and emit infrared radiation. Water vapor is the gas phase of water. Radiation describes any process in which energy emitted by one body travels through a medium or through space The equator is the intersection of the Earth's surface with the plane perpendicular to the Earth's axis of rotation and containing the Earth's center of mass A spectrometer is an instrument used to measure properties of light over a specific portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, typically used in spectroscopic analysis to identify materials.

4 Introduction The atmosphere of Earth is a layer of gases surrounding the core Earth that is retained by Earth's gravity. Role of Earth atmosphere: absorbing ultraviolet solar radiation warming the surface through heat retention reducing temperature extremes between day and night. oxygen in the atmosphere, is needed by all living organisms for respiration.

7 Chemical composition of the Atmosphere
Constant components

8 Chemical composition of the Atmosphere
Variable components (amounts vary over time and location) Carbon dioxide (CO2) 0.038% Water vapor (H20) 0-4% Methane (CH4) trace Sulfur dioxide (SO2) Ozone (O3) Nitrogen oxides (NO, NO2)

9 Conclusion Modern methods of research have allowed the person to learn many details of a structure and chemical composition of an atmosphere. But this is remains a lot of unknown in a science about an atmosphere, people continue to learn it.
