2. Learning Goals
Apply the creative process to produce a piece of art that communicates my understanding of a chosen animal in its habitat.
Form: Use a variety of art materials (cardboard, layered paper) to produce a 3D lifelike effect to bring focus to my chosen animal.
Colour: work with acrylic paint to produce a variety of colour effects reflecting those found in the natural ecosystem of my chosen animal
Use art vocabulary correctly when completing my artist statement.

3. Form
Form can be organic (as found in nature) or geometrical (like math!)
Which type will you be working with today?
Form can also be 3D. You will be using materials to create a 3D effect in your painting.
What effect does this have on your art work? (look at the example of the fish given)

Colour
Today you will be using acrylic paints to paint your animal and habitat. Be prepared to discuss in your reflection:
Hue: Colour you used and why
Value: Lightness or darkness of colour used and why
Intensity: Brightness or dullness of colour and why

8. Steps to 3D Animal Art
Using newsprint paper, sketch your animal which will be the foreground.
Cut out and glue to cardboard. Cut out cardboard around your animal and paint.
Choose your mid layer (this can be grass, rocks, etc.) that will be your middle ground of the picture. Cut out and paint.
Choose your background. Paint where needed. Glue your layers together.

9. Things to Remember….
Use paper plates as your palette. You can use the same plate for all the colours you will use (see next point!).
When using paint, only put a small dab onto the paper plate. Please don’t waste!
Paint is for your artwork ONLY!!! If you make a choice to use the paint inappropriately, you will LOSE the privilege of using paint!!!
Brushes must be washed thoroughly and dried after use.

Artist Statement Questions (Remember these are the biggest part of your mark!)
What is your animal and habitat? What made you choose this animal?
How did you use form and what effect did this have on your art piece?
How did you use colour? Describe using art terminology (hue, value and intensity) and why you made those choices.
