2. Faith Ringgold
Born in 1930 in Harlem, New York, during the African American art movement known as the Harlem Renaissance, which began in the 1920s.
The Harlem Renaissance was about Black Americans developing their own cultural identity and rejecting old racist stereotypes.
Art from this movement included paintings, sculptures, poetry, literature, fashion, dance, and music.
