1 What is the structure of the leaf and how are the tissues adapted to their function?
Baseline (Flightpath D): To be able to recognize examples of plant organs, state their functions and use a light microscope to view a cross-section of a leaf. State the functions of different plant tissues. Further (Flightpath C&B): To be able to describe how plant organs are involved in the transport system, use a microscope to identify the different tissues in a cross-section of a leaf and explain how the structures of tissues in the leaf are related to their functions. Challenge Flightpath A): to be able to suggest what type of plant organs unfamiliar structures are, use a light microscope to draw a cross-section of a leaf and calculate scale and suggest functions for unknown plant tissues.
