4 Reminder – O.S.S. Diploma Requirements
30 credits - 18 compulsory credits - 12 optional credits 40 hours of community involvement Ontario Secondary School Literacy Requirement * For university entrance, you need ENG 4U1 plus 5 other Grade 12 U or M level credits.

5 Considerations for Senior Students
Pick the right pathway: Research destinations City –distance, size, transportation . . . Schools—size, characteristics, Programs available, specialties/expertise Get real: Set realistic goals Marks—average, prerequisites, EFFORT Money—lots! Talk to teachers, counsellors, and others who have done this before you!

In general, there are 4 main types of programs at most universities: Arts/Humanities/Social Sciences Life/Health Sciences Physical/Engineering Sciences Business/Commerce

9 Important Dates and Deadlines
Nov. 6, 2017 – University Information St. Pat’s (6:00 pm start) Mid-November – receive your Application Access Code letter with your PIN January 17, 2018 – Deadline to submit your application to OUAC May 25, 2018 – Last date by which you can expect a response from an Ontario university. This includes offers of admission, refusals and deferrals June 1, 2018 – Earliest date you may be required to respond to offers of admission and give financial commitment

10 Add up your top 6 and divide by 6 = your average
Entrance Averages: Entrance averages are made up from your top 6 Grade 12 University or Mixed Courses (e.g. ENG 4U1 or ADA 4M1) Add up your top 6 and divide by 6 = your average All REQUIRED courses must be used in your entrance average Recommended courses are good to have, but you may apply without them and they do not have to be used in entrance average

11 Scholarships / Bursaries
You should try hard to fund your education with scholarships, bursaries, awards, and student loans. You should talk to your parents/guardians about RESP’s or other financial aid that might be put aside for you! You should research free money! Google: Scholarships in Canada,. The YMCA Celebration of Youth Awards - $1000 (applications available Feb. 2018) The Kiwanis of the Seaway Award – based on community involvement (essay required) - $ due June 1, 2018 The Dr. Gladdy Award – for medical studies students (essay required) -$2000 – due June 1, 2018 The Catherine Wilson Awards – for students who are heavily involved in the school community ($3000 awards) The PAIRS scholarships - offered by our industry partners, Arlanxeo and Suncor, to support our deserving grads ($8000)
