What is Ati-atihan? It is a festival is named after the Ati, the natives of Panay before the arrival of the Malay in the 10th century and the Spanish in the 16th century.

What happened? A group of 10 Malay Datus fleeing from Borneo settled in the Philippines. The Ati people of the tribes of Panay Island let them settle. Ati-han was really a pagan festival from this tribe that practices Animism for worshiping their anito god.

How is it celebrated now?
celebrated as a religious festival held annually in January in honor of the Sto. Nino (Infant Jesus) concludes on the third Sunday, in Kalibo, Aklan Christians, and non-Christians observe this day with religious processions
