26
Think to yourself What’s the importance of non- verbal communication in an interview, in the workplace, at school….
27
Non-Verbal Communication
Body language is especially meaningful in an interview as your interviewer will be paying as much attention to nonverbal cues as to what you have to say. You want to avoid nervous or bored body language like repeatedly crossing and uncrossing your legs or arms, fiddling with your hair or clothes, continually touching your face, scratching your head. Some positive examples of body language in an interview include leaning forward slightly to show your enthusiasm and nodding whenever is appropriate, particularly when your interviewer is making an important point.
28
Communication! How do emotions affect communication?
29
Verbal Communication Voice: Positive:
Speak with a clear volume and take care of your pronunciation and rhythm. Provide variety in your intonation and speak in a calm manner. Concentrate on your breathing while speaking. This avoids a hasty impression. Further, avoid filler words, such as ‘yes’,’ uhm’ and ‘so’, and definitely don’t sigh after a question. Use short and simple sentences, finish your sentences and stick to the structure of the job interview. Positive: Always be positive when telling your story. Don’t tell just what went wrong in previous experiences, but also discuss how you solved issues and which lessons you learned while doing so.
