PURPOSE To obtain short term economic indicators, which could measure the behavior of sales of Services through a survey to companies. These indicators could provide elements of judgment to the decision making process of the economic agents. INDICATORS Monthly indicators released by Group and Division, according to ISIC.Rev.3 Monthly indicators released by Sector and Type of service

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK Type of survey: Sample Classification: ISIC Rev.3 Target Population: Divisions 51, 55, 70, 71, 72, 74, 90, 92, 93, Group 642 and Class (Transport, category I, 2008) Unit of information and analysis: Enterprise. Unit of measurement: Monthly sales. Coverage: National Periodicity: Quarterly with monthly results (Base year: = 100)

SAMPLE DESIGN: Probabilistic stratified sampling, using economic activity and sales criteria. The directory is created from the administrative records provided by the Internal Revenue Service The information from the tax declarations, Annual Income and monthly VAT are used as framework to stratified and select the sample of enterprises. The universe for sample selection are those companies placed over the 95% of the accumulated sales.

STRATIFICATION 1. - First stratification: Economic activity. 2. - Second stratification: Size of the company, according to sales. 3. - Third stratification: Census section – Sample section

Dissemination The group services indicators was published for the first time, the last quarter of and it has been delivered quarterly with 2 months delay. The results, in nominal terms, are included in the next tables. They show a dynamic sector in all areas.

Future actions: Facilitate the analysis of the selected services at constant prices: It is necessary to previously explore and study the different alternatives for the construction of deflators for the Sales indices at current prices.

Construction of deflators for the selected services is difficult to approach, in part, because one of the requirements to construct a price index is the identification of products which are homogeneous, permanent in the market and with prices easy to collect. The heterogeneous nature of prices of these activities introduce a complexity sometimes difficult to solve. Deflators or price indices of services that reflect the changes of their levels of prices are not currently available.

Prices of Services related to intermediate consumption are non-existent. Only prices of final consumption derived from the ICP are available; they could be partially used as input of the price indexes of services. A direct solution could be to use ICP as deflator for all services.
