190 respondents
Many questions included an “I don’t know” or N/A option. When processing the data from those questions, we have excluded those answers from the analysis.
A bit disappointed with only 54 responses. It is very difficult to get people to fill out a survey that is focused on data issues.

4. Interesting Findings from the 2016 Agile at Scale Survey
Not all agile teams are small
Roughly half (48%) of agile teams are more than 10 people in size
Few agile teams are co-located
71% of agile teams are geographically distributed in some manner
Few agile teams are truly whole
96% of agile delivery teams must collaborate with one or more teams that are external to them
Agile teams rarely get the simple problems
Only 22% of agile teams are taking on a straightforward problem domain or are pilot teams
Most agile teams work in a compliance environment
2/3 of agile teams face either regulatory compliance (i.e. PCI, FDA) or organizational compliance (i.e. CMMI, ISO 900x)

Near located was calculated by removing anyone who answered that they had team members who were very distant, working from home, working in cubicles or offices, or were within driving distance
Note: Only 29% of agile teams are “near located” – everyone working in a co-located or an open space
