Respond to 911 calls. Emergent Transfers. Non Emergent Transfers.

“You call we haul” is no longer our business model.

4 Mobile Integrated Healthcare
MIH is the provision of healthcare using patient-centered, mobile resources in the out of hospital environment.

5 What is a Community Paramedic?
A CP program is one component of MIH.

6 A CP is not…………… A replacement of home healthcare.
A replacement for SNF’s staff. A replacement for Primary Care.

7 A Community Paramedic is a repurposing of EMS recourses.
A paramedic with additional training in: Acute care. Primary care. Post acute care. Managed care. Avoiding transports to the Emergency Department.

8 What can the CP do? Everything an ALS ambulance can do. 12 lead EKG.
Foley Catheter replacement. Point of care labs, i-STAT CHEM8+ Lactic acid analyzation. Spirometer. Chemstrip urinalysis.

9 Where is HVA in the project?
Active for 9 months. Available 24/7 in Washtenaw County and 12 hours/7days in Jackson County. A learning process. Funding challenges.

10 Expansion plans? This time the project is a three year study.
Washtenaw unit funded by HVA and a grant from Washtenaw County. Jackson funded by Allegiance Health. At this time there is no time line to provide service in other areas.
