A replacement for SNF’s staff.
A replacement for Primary Care.

7. A Community Paramedic is a repurposing of EMS recourses.
A paramedic with additional training in:
Acute care.
Primary care.
Post acute care.
Managed care.
Avoiding transports to the Emergency Department.

8. What can the CP do? Everything an ALS ambulance can do. 12 lead EKG.
Foley Catheter replacement.
Point of care labs, i-STAT CHEM8+
Lactic acid analyzation.
Spirometer.
Chemstrip urinalysis.

9. Where is HVA in the project?
Active for 9 months.
Available 24/7 in Washtenaw County and 12 hours/7days in Jackson County.
A learning process.
Funding challenges.

10. Expansion plans? This time the project is a three year study.
Washtenaw unit funded by HVA and a grant from Washtenaw County.
Jackson funded by Allegiance Health.
At this time there is no time line to provide service in other areas.
