1 GAS LUBRICATION

2 DEFINITION In simple terms, a gas or compressed air is used as the lubricant. Rather than using an oil or grease to form a barrier between moving surface parts, gas or air is introduced at high pressure. The pressurised medium will be applied throughout the mechanical activity as it requires it. It is common to use carbon dioxide or compressed normal air. This process can offer support to higher speeds and loads but has the disadvantage of cost (generating the pressured gas) Moving mating parts would be covered in a dry lubricant, hould the compressed gas supply fail.

3 THE PRINCIPLE SHOWN SIMPLY
The next youtube video shows the air lubrication theory in its simplest everyday method

4 ANIMATION SHOWING THE PROCESS
This youtube clip shows how compressed air can support a spindle and effective provide a lubrication barrier between the moving parts. Speeds of up to rpm can be used using this process!

5 THE METHOD USED UNDER GREAT LOAD
Here is a video clip showing the method support a shaft of a high load weight and move it
