1 Teen Connect – Crisis Support Service New Support Service for Teenagers in Leeds.

2 About Teen Connect Teenagers in crisis now have somewhere to turn to after-hours thanks to a new helpline and online support service. Created with the guidance of other young people, Teen Connect acts as an outlet for 13 to 16-year-olds in Leeds, who do not know where to turn. The service is open to teenagers who are feeling at crisis point because of whatever they are going through, including: problems at school or college, family conflict or bullying. Teen Connect will help young people and their families in times of distress and the hope is to help and prevent them ending up in A&E. It is a confidential service that adopts a therapeutic approach and is intended to fill a gap in provision during the evenings.

3 What’s Teen Connect? Teen Connect is a helpline for year-olds living in the Leeds area.  They offer up to an hour of support either by phone or online chat.  You can have up to an hour with one of our trained staff each night to talk about what you’re going through.

4 Who will support me? All the staff have training in counselling skills.  They are not a call centre. They are a small, friendly team of people and all have some experience of managing difficulties they have faced in their lives.

5 Will you tell anyone else?
The service is confidential.  That means they won’t tell anyone else that you called or what you talked about.  The only time they might have to pass something on is if you told them about something that either put you or someone else at immediate risk of serious harm.  If they have to do this, they would always tell you – they would tell you why and who they would have to speak to about it, to keep you or someone else safe.

6 How can I get support with Teen Connect?
You can get support with in three different ways: Call    – if someone can’t pick up, leave a voice message and they will call you back. Teen Connect’s freephone helpline operates from 6pm to 2am each night, for up to an hour at a time. Text   and a member of staff will let you know when someone will be available to call or chat online with you. Go online, using the website or by clicking the link on
