2 Definitions ray – a part of a line
angle – rays that share an endpoint. vertex – the common endpoint

3 How to name an angle: With numbers. With one letter. With 3 letters
Necessary when different angles have the same endpoint. The vertex is always the middle letter.

4 Name each numbered angle using letters.

5 Types of angles: right angle – 90 degrees
acute angle – less than 90 degrees obtuse angle – greater than 90 degrees How big is a degree anyway?

6 Other definitions: bisect – when a ray bisects an angle, it cuts it into two equal parts. congruent – having the exact same measure. opposite rays – two rays that form a line (180 degree angle)

7 Ray BC bisects <ABD. If m<ABC=3x+1 and m<CBD=7x+33.
Find x. Find m<ABC. Find m<ABD.
