2 Astronomy – The study of the motions and properties of objects in space.
Celestial object – an object in the sky outside Earth’s atmosphere Ex) the Sun, moon, stars and planets. Terrestrial means “of the Earth” Terrestrial objects are all Earthly objects

3 Earth (oblate spheroid) rotates 15o/hr West to East. (We move WE)
Look at the board, slowly turn to the right, which way does the board appear to move? Therefore, celestial objects appear to move in an arc at 15o/hr rising in the East and setting in the West.

4 Because we rotate around our axis and our axis points to Polaris, the other stars appear to move around Polaris, creating a star trail. The stars do not actually move! celestial objects appear to move 15o per hour.

9 If all celestial objects appear to move at 150 per hour, how many hours has the Earth moved when this picture was taken? four hours!

They “connected the STARS” & saw: gods, animals, heroes & heroines from their Myths.

26 EARTH MOVE 15 0 DEGREES EVERY HOUR.
150 X 24= 3600 DEGREES

27 For every hour, the Sun appears to move 15 0 degrees per hour!
