3 These are examples of our PAWS expectations.
This year, students who do not follow PAWS expectations in the classroom will recieve a PAWS in the Cafeteria form. If your child receives this form, please discuss the incident with him/her, sign and return to school.

4 PAWS Progressive Discipline Plan
Teachers will explicitly teach the PAWS Expectations and classroom rules and procedures. All Pre-Referrals must be returned signed. 1st Offense: the teacher will give a verbal reminder and restate the rule/expectation 2nd Offense: the teacher will reteach the rule/expectation and change the student’s location within the classroom 3rd Offense: the teacher will reteach the rule/expectation the student will spend time in an alternate classroom 4th Offense: the teacher will complete an electronic Pre-Referral form and send home to parent.

5 Possible Referral Consequences
All Referrals must be signed and returned to school. 1st Referral: Half day Time Out (student will continue to do assigned work) 2nd Referral: All Day In School Suspension (student will continue to do assigned work) 3rd Referral: Out of School Suspension *Expulsion may be a possibility for severe, chronic, and escalated behaviors. Administrative Clause: Administration reserves the right to modify the process and/or the consequences based on individual incidents.

6 Safety at School In addition to our required drills, this year we must follow the ALICE protocol for Lockdown drills. Part of our protocol is for students to practice the hide, counter, evacuate strategies.

7 Safety at School Arrival: In the morning, parents will not be able to park in the parking lot and walk their child up. All students arriving on time (8:00-8:30) who are not bus riders or walkers will have to use the back car line. Dismissal: In the afternoon, (3:30-4:00) students will only be permitted to be dismissed through the front or back car line. Students will not be released to anyone who walks up.

8 Accelerated Reader Points
Students must be reading at their level, have an 85% or greater for their Average Percent Correct and also be reading on their level.

9 Accelerated Reader will be Graded This Year
Grading Accelerated Reader will count for 5% of the ELA grade in grades 1-5 Students will earn 2 grades: Average Percent Correct If a Student's AVG. % Correct is 85% or greater: 100% will be entered into the gradebook. If a Student's AVG. % Correct is lower than 85%: The student will earn the score they earned. Percent of Point Goal Score will be based on percent of point goal earned.

Students will get chance tickets to have an opportunity to get called up to spin the wheel for a prize. PLATINUM: Will get 4 chance tickets GOLD: Will get 3 chance tickets SILVER: Will get 2 chance tickets BRONZE: Will get 2 chance ticket

12 You Roar! Students who demonstrate exemplary role model examples in academics, effort and behavior have the opportunity to be recognized by a staff member. Students will have their You Roar card posted on the 100’s chart When a row of 10 is completed, that student will spin the wheel for a prize for all 10 students.
