Objective: How to use the Pythagorean Theorem.

2 Vocabulary right triangle – a triangle having one right angle.
legs – the 2 sides of a right triangle that form the right angle. hypotenuse – the side opposite the right angle in a right triangle. (longest)

3 Vocabulary Pythagorean Theorem – in a right triangle, the square of the length of the hypotenuse c is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs a and b. a2+b2=c2 converse – the parts of the Pythagorean Theorem reversed. Is a triangle a right triangle? Pythagorean triple – a set of three integers that satisfy the Pythagorean Theorem original triple
