6 Parallel Session - Format
Session = 2 hours (start 10:20) Presentations Presentation by each Expert 4 X 10 mins. per Expert = 40 mins. (finish = 11:00) Answers from Audience to Gaps in Expert Knowledge Establishing key action points - discussion between participants & audience = 50 mins. What is the role of broadband observatories in a county, city or region, i.e., what do they do? Note: Need to change to observe/research/ investigate/analyse/promote Answer Gather information about availability of technology, uses and needs, related to the access of citizens, companies and public sector to the Internet and its use. Monitor and analyse broadband situation. Understand current and future demand. Collect the demands of the people and the companies to get a better offer from the providers. Follow Up Actions Create observatories to provide useful information that can create real social and economic benefits Provide services to help users make the most of the internet. Anticipate the needs of people and companies.

8 Know how internet is used and what people demand.
What type of services should broadband observatories provide and to whom? Answer Know what is happening and communicate to the stakeholders (Public sector, companies and citizens). Observing. Mapping. Know how internet is used and what people demand. Follow Up Actions Detect what services are demanded. Involved the people on the use of internet.

9 Measure the return of investment.
How important are observatories in assuring the sustainability of HSB investments? Answer Measure the return of investment. Knowing what services are demanded and how internet is used, we can take the best of it. Achieve economical, social and educational benefits. Can dictate the keys for sustainable model. Follow Up Actions Actions oriented to break the digital gap. Is important to know what people need and give it to them.

10 Internet=Changing lifestyle.
In the case of Donegal, please explain key approaches or successful case studies for: - Building Awareness. - Assessing Need. - Stimulating Demand. Answer Internet=Changing lifestyle. Not important the population, the important is the use. Efficient. Business opportunities, from local to global. Impact on the economical grew. HSB is a connection to the rest of the world. Save money, save time. Access to education. Follow Up Actions Involve all the stakeholders. Know what people demand. Develop online services.
