In Colonial America

2 The Great Awakening During the early 1700s, many colonists feared they had lost the desire to practice their religion 1. This religious movement was called the Great Awakening 2. To revive people’s religious spirit, preachers went from town to town holding outdoor “revival” meetings

Jonathon Edwards Became one of the best-known preachers 3. He terrified listeners with images of God’s anger but promised they could be saved
