2 Training course for RPOs
Article 29 of the Radiation Safety Regulations establishes that “Each Director in Charge shall appoint a Radiation protection Officer who shall appropriately trained to assist him/her in the fulfilment of the Director responsibilities. He/she also request and make use of appropriate technical support services, as required, to achieve an adequate level of radiation safety in compliance with the Regulations”. 3 The training specially oriented to
Staff performing activities involving direct handling of radioactive material. Staff involved in Agency operations performed in nuclear and radiation facilities or activities in Member States, e.g. Inspectors, Staffs carrying out missions outside the Agency premises. Staff involved in organization and management of Agency activities undertaken by external experts, which pose a radiation risk, e.g. Project Manager Officers and Technical Officers of TC activities. 4 Seibersdorf Incident Task Force
As a result of event occurred in August 2012 in Seibersdorf, the Director General created the Seibersdorf Incident Task Force to identify and follow up on the implementation of corrective actions recommended as a consequence of the event. These actions include training activities designed to improve competence of the Agency Radiation Protection Officers. RPO trainings 2013
