Project Overview Early Notified of mandatory upgrade Faced with a choice Transition to a new ERP Upgrade to Banner 9 Decision was made to complete the upgrade In early 2017, Ellucian, the development company for Banner, stated that they would no longer provide development, patches, fixes or regulatory updates to Banner INB (Banner 8) as of December 18, 2018 Banner was built on Oracle forms and the upgrade to Banner 9 was their opportunity for Ellucian to move away from Oracle Forms. We had a choice- to either complete the upgrade to Banner 9 or transition to a new ERP system. We determined that we didn’t have the time to transition to a new ERP, so we decided to move ahead with the upgrade. But we knew the clock was ticking!! GONZAGA UNIVERSITY/ Oracle OpenWorld 2018

6 Project Overview: The Clock Was Ticking....
The definitive deadline of December, 2018 was looming, but we saw this as a huge opportunity to make significant changes to our system and infrastructure. We started by evaluating our current state from an infrastructure, security & business continuity perspective. Banner INB was housed on prem, and the university was at risk from a business continuity perspective should a large scale disaster occur. With these considerations, we decided to move from on-prem to the cloud Evaluated multiple options and selected OCI  Designed, built-out cloud infrastructure Completed ERP upgrade for both Administrative and Self –Service features /Move to SSO  Cutover to OCI/ “go live” with ERP upgrade on 7/26/18 AND THIS WAS ALL DONE IN 7 MONTHS! With that brief overview, I will turn it over to Darren Owsley, Gonzaga’s Chief Technology Officer who will be sharing his thoughts on the business drivers that took us to OCI.
