Splitted into server and client application Tranfers only the requested image data to the client Supports a wide range of image formats No additional applications needed on client side Only browser with javascript needed

Digicat Image gallery with a definable set of images Zoom Zoom in / out and Zoom-Areas Annotations Markers can be set in the image Reference Gives a refernce to that image with all performed actions as URL or latex reference Navigation and Scaling

8 Some history Developed by MIPWG (Dr. Robert Casties) and Universität Bern and other institutes in the Humanities section of the Max Planck society under direction of Prof. Graßhoff (Uni Bern) Registered as open source software at „BerliOS“ in 2002 Used for „Archimedes“ project of the MIPWG to present digitalized images and transcriptions intensified development for ECHO (European Cultural Heritage Online) Used in many projects within the MPS where digitalized material (images) is presented

9 Digilib and eSciDoc Digilib is now integrated into the eSciDoc infrastructure Every solution will be able to present its images via digilib easily Digilib is going to be used in two MPDL solutions: FACES and VIRR MPDL contributes to the further development of digilib
