MORES Mobile intervention for children, adolescents, & their families
Ages 3-21 Experiencing escalating emotional or behavioral symptoms or traumatic circumstances which have compromised the youth’s ability to function at their baseline within their family, living situation, school and/or community environments 11/16/2018

Interventions/Strategies
crisis intervention and de-escalation counseling behavioral assistance skill building medication management, and/or caregiver and youth engagement/support/stabilization services. 11/16/2018

Service Prevent placement into more restrictive settings, unnecessary court involvement, and declines in functioning. Respond within 30 minutes face-to-face unless deferred response is requested by the parent/caregiver. Immediate face-to-face response is designed to better address the needs children and families in their homes, schools, and communities. MORES staff includes clinicians, Family and Youth Support Partners, and access to child/adolescent psychiatry. 11/16/2018

Goals for Youth & Family
Stabilize the presented issue. Assess and eliminate barriers to accessing behavioral health and other services and supports through active family engagement strategies including use of Family and Youth Support Partners. Linkage to appropriate services and supports Promote/enhance emotional and behavioral functioning. Empower and educate children and families to monitor, manage, and cope with similar situations. Strengthen the family and youth’s natural support system. 11/16/2018

Goals for Provider Provide solution-focused behavioral health services that are highly mobile and responsive to child and family needs Provide appropriate screening, early identification, and assessment of suicide risk, trauma exposure, substance use, exposure to and risk of violence, eating disorders, and other clinical presentations. Include family members and informal supports in all aspects of the planning and treatment process to the fullest extent possible. Increase community awareness of behavioral health needs by providing education and outreach to children, families, schools, and communities. 11/16/2018

Goals for Child Serving System
Ensure that all children and their families have access to crisis, prevention, and intervention services and supports. Exhaust all possible options to maintain youth in their homes and communities and prevent placement in more restrictive care settings 11/16/2018

Practice Model The MORES episode of care can be divided into two phases: 1) response and assessment 2) ongoing outreach, stabilization, engagement, and transition to appropriate services and supports. Each phase is comprised of a number of clinical and supportive activities. Not a “typical” MORES episode of care. Episodes can be as brief as responding to the initial call or can last for up to 8 weeks. 11/16/2018

Summary of Tasks for Stabilization & Transition Phase
Provide follow-up services in the home or other community locations Regular re-assessment of needs and modifying interventions accordingly Interpreting assessment and incorporating findings into stabilization plan Accurately identifying and intervening with factors that contribute to and/or maintain behavioral crises Identifying unmet needs and strengths Utilize trauma-informed approach Coordinating care with psychiatrists Utilize Motivational Interviewing strategies and a Strengths Based Case Management approach. 11/16/2018
