2 Learning Outcome 2 – Assignment
LO2: Be able to create digital images You need to complete the following tasks in order to effectively create the digital image for ‘Progress Media’. Assignment Tasks (P, M, D) 1 Read over the assignment brief provided by ‘Progress Media’. You have been asked to create a Digital Image and will need to: Specify a solution for the competition Create your competition entry Store and present your digital entry In Learning Outcome 2, you need to create your final product and need to: Source your images (completed in LO1) Choose appropriate software Set image size and resolution (considering pixel dimensions and dpi) Use tools and techniques to edit and enhance image(s) Target Audience Appropriate Software Clear Evidence Appropriate Choices

3 Learning Outcome 2 – Task 1
LO2: Be able to create digital images You need to complete the following tasks in order to effectively create the digital image for ‘Progress Media’. Task 1 (P, M, D) You now need to create you final digital product. 1 Decide on the software that you will use to create the final product and explain the reason for your choice in relation to the client brief. This should include: Reason for the software chosen What you will use the software to do (i.e. edit image, create text, etc.) Merit and Distinction 2 Make more than one software choice in relation to your final product. For example: Serif Draw for Vectors/Text, Word for Word/Clip Art, etc. Distinction 3 Make sure your choices are appropriate and have a thorough explanation of use in relation to the client brief. LO2: Be able to create digital images You need to complete the following tasks in order to effectively create the digital image for ‘Progress Media’. Task 2 (P, M, D) You now need to create you final digital product. 1 Using your graphics editing software, evidence setting up the final product along with an explanation of the settings chosen. This should include: Image size Resolution (Pixel dimensions and dpi) Basic Explanation Sound Explanation (M/D) Appropriate Image Size and Resolution (D) Thorough Explanation (D)

LO2: Be able to create digital images You need to complete the following tasks in order to effectively create the digital image for ‘Progress Media’. Task 3 (P, M, D) You now need to create you final digital product. 1 Create your final digital image(s) to communicate the intended message as required by your client brief (user requirements). Provide screenshot evidence of: A range of tools and techniques The final product including a A4 printout Merit and Distinction 2 The image(s) should have some complexity and appropriate message with a range of specialised tools and techniques. Distinction 3 The image(s) should be complex and creative, effectively communicating the message with a range of specialised tools and techniques. 6 Software Tools and Techniques
LO2: Be able to create digital images Software Tools and Techniques: Standard Tools include: cut, copy, crop, paste; select parts of images; move, align and order components; group/ungroup components; rotate and flip; create lines, curves and shapes, i.e. basic and freehand; change stroke and fill, i.e. colour, thickness, style; draw/paint, i.e. pencil, brush, bucket; insert and edit text, i.e. colour, font, size Specialised Tools include: Filters, i.e. sharpen, blur, noise; Colour balance, levels and curves; Masks and layers Retouching tools, i.e. clone, red eye; trace; edit and combine paths Opacity/transparency; Transform, scale, rotate and distort Text effects, i.e. attach to path; guides/guidelines

7 Learning Outcome 2 – Task 4
LO2: Be able to create digital images You need to complete the following tasks in order to effectively create the digital image for ‘Progress Media’. Task 4 (P, M, D) You now need to create you final digital product. 1 Evaluate your image(s) against your success criteria and highlight any merits and drawbacks. To do this you should: Use the success criteria from LO1 – Task 2 completing a column “Have I met each criteria”. Use your comments to highlight merits and drawbacks of the image(s). Merit and Distinction 2 You need to carry out a sound evaluation providing mostly relevant feedback on the image(s). Distinction 3 You need to carry out a thorough evaluation providing detailed and relevant feedback on the image(s).
