4. No or Noh Theater Notice the masks

No theater is often called “walking” theater. Actors spend years learning how to
walk properly on stage.
Hand positions, feet positons are important.

5. Bunraku This Japanese theater features marionettes, about 4 feet tall
Each puppet is manipulated by 3 persons who are all dressed in black.
Dialogue is read by 5 narrators in elaborate costumes.

6. Kabuki Originally an imitation of Bunraku and No theater.
Women first produced and acted the plays
Today, only men are players
Actors spend their lives in the theater, beginning as children and acting until age 70.
