1 Accu-Vote Tabulator Preparation

3 Verify that all compartments of the ballot box are empty.
Including where the ballots drop in from the tabulator and the auxiliary bin compartment (located on the side of the ballot box).

4 Close and lock all compartments!
All compartments should remain locked until after 7:00 p.m.

5 Slide tabulator into front slot.
Make sure the power cord is connected. Slide the Accu-Vote Tabulator into position leaving enough space to reach the power switch in the back. Then feed the power cord through the chute in the back of the ballot box. Plug the power cord into the tabulator and then into an electrical outlet.

6 Verify that the seal on the memory card is not broken.

7 Remove the printer cover.
Turn on red switch – the zero tape will then print. Slide the Accu-Vote into place. Locate the red power switch at the back of the tabulator (located next to the power cord) then turn the unit on. The Zero Tape will automatically begin to print. If your printer does not automatically start printing the Zero Report, contact your election authority immediately.

8 Verify that the zero tape has no votes cast.
Check for correct precinct name and number. Compare the tape to the specimen ballot. Each judge must sign the zero tape.

9 Leave Tape Attached! Replace and lock cover
Do not need another copy of zero tape Lock ballot box Remove key

10 Verify display count is set to ZERO!
Prec TOTAL COUNT = 0

11 The Accu-Vote is Ready for use!

14 Remove the printer cover
Insert the Ender card while pressing the yes and no buttons Result tapes will then print All judges must sign the tapes

15 Print required number of tape copies
Additional copies may be printed for pollwatchers who request them Power machine down with red button

16 Follow your Election Authority’s instructions!
Update according to what the jurisdiction does. -Remove memory card and return only the memory card to the counting center. -Leave memory card in tabulator and return the entire tabulator to the counting center. -Remove memory card, put in separate container, and return memory card AND tabulator to the counting center. Remove memory card and return to counting center. Remove entire tabulator and return to counting center.
