The Declaration arose directly from the experience of the Second World War and represents the first global expression of rights to which all human beings are inherently entitled. Its significance and contribution to the development of Human Right is evident in two ways. Firstly, it lists the human rights to which every person is entitled. Secondly, it is the forefather of both the ICCPR and the ICESR. E E Subsequent treaties such as Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989 and the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People 2006, are a result of the UDHR 1948. L As a result, the contribution and development of human rights international has a fundamental basis in the establishment of the UDHR in 1948.
