1 Transcribed strand breaks do not interfere with TFIIIB‐dependent recruitment of pol III to the promoter. Transcribed strand breaks do not interfere with TFIIIB‐dependent recruitment of pol III to the promoter. EMSA was used to compare the formation of TFIIIB–pol III–DNA complexes by transcriptionally less active template N−6b and inactive N−2b with intact duplex DNA. The presence of pol III and TFIIIB is indicated above each lane and complexes are identified at the side. Only the segment of the gel containing these complexes is shown; free DNA is not. Each DNA probe contained a common labeled non‐transcribed strand at identical specific activity. All lanes are from the same gel. Anne Grove et al.
