When faced with a multiplication of decimals problem, follow these steps:
Step 1:
Ignore all decimals. 5 5 8 ×
3.67
Step 2:
Multiply normally. 1 2 . 2 9 3 6
Step 3:
Count all decimal places in factors. 2 1
Step 4:
In the product, place a decimal point equal to the number of places counted.
*Be sure to count from right to left!
