1 Why do we exist? “To tackle inequality and poverty by ensuring access to justice for people who need help enforcing or defending their rights.” The LiP Strategy partner delivering daily frontline legal advice & working closely with the Bar Pro Bono Unit and PSU in responding to LiP needs

2 How we do this Civil legal team providing legal advice in High Court & Court of Appeal cases – 2 paid solicitors and 200 pro bono solicitors and 20 legal assistants Central London County Court team providing legal advice and representation in money and housing cases – 1 paid solicitor and debt team Housing legal aid contract – 2 paid solicitors

3 How we do this Family legal team providing legal advice in High Court & Court of Appeal cases – 2 paid solicitors and 20 pro bono solicitors CourtNav divorce module available via Local Citizens Advice services across England & Wales Time Together – the only child contact centre within a court

4 How we work with others We facilitate 3 pro bono rotas – CLIPS, COAS & Court 37 We host a daily public family law rota We have access to pro bono mediation in both civil and family We are able to access costs and bundle support from firms

5 What we know about LiPs 70% new issue
7% seen a solicitor previously, 44% consulted local provider Only 4% state can afford legal advice 72% already involved in a case High % of vulnerability PSU and Judge referral make up nearly 40% of referrals

6 What we achieve for LiPs
Outcomes – retaining housing, securing repairs, achieving judgements, obtaining costs, permission to appeal Social outcomes – reducing stress, encouraging resolution, increasing confidence Delivering materials – CourtNav & Going to Court Demonstrating service delivery models – Community Advice, Central London County Court, Child contact
