New Member District Officer Club Mentor or Club Coach Club Sponsor or Speechcraft or Youth Leadership Program Club Officer DTM DTM PROJECT Our Chief Ambassador is fielding a number of questions related to the requirements for DTM within Pathways. There are multiple requirements. Let’s start from the bottom and work our way up. 1. In Pathways, a member must complete two separate learning paths. 2. The member must serve as a Club Sponsor (of a new club), OR coordinate a Speechcraft OR Youth Leadership Program. 3. The member serves as a Club Mentor or Club Coach. 4. Serve 12 full months as a Club Officer. 5. Serve 12 full months as a District Officer Though the roles of Pathways Guides, Ambassador, also fulfill this requirement. 6. Complete a DTM “capstone” project (think of it as a High Performance Leadership project without the Guidance Committee) Members can complete these tasks in any order, though usually brand new members do not often step into some of the “more advanced” levels of leadership until they have some experience. NOTE: Any service you have completed as a club or district leader that has not been applied toward an award can be used to fulfill your next education award in the current (traditional) program or towards Pathways. (This includes club leadership as an officer, district leadership, club sponsor, club mentor, club coach, Youth Leadership Program and Speechcraft).

In the upper right corner, there is a search field. Here you can find resources and people – meaning, members within your club.

7 If I want to find the Ice Breaker, I can enter ICE . . .
And 5 options appear.

8 If we hover over the options, the full name of the resource appears.
In this instance, the 5th option is the Ice Breaker Speech Outline Worksheet.

9 Find tutorials and resources
In the upper left corner, there is a Tutorials and Resources tab. Here you can explore the educational materials available within Pathways.

10 Learn about Base Camp Below the Toastmasters branded images, there are 5 blue icons. Each are clickable to reveal more information. The first is titled “Navigating Base Camp”. If we click on the icon . . .

11 . . . the “Get to know base camp” page appears.
Each of these 6 icons help you explore and delve deeper into base camp. Just like on the home page, each of these 6 icons are interactive. If we select the first icon “Explore my profile”, a new list of options appear. And when we select the first item within the list . . .

12 A new, online tutorial – or other resource - will appear.
The small blue icon that resembles a monitor indicates this is an online class. Sometimes these are recorded videos, screen shares, or other interactive learning experiences.

13 This resource opens an interactive online class.

14 Access Your Learning Path
Let’s go back to our home page and continue learning about base camp. The next blue icon is your education transcript. Everyone’s learning path and projects is accessed through this portal.

For members who want a “shortcut” to directly open or launch their learning, they can access the projects quicker here.

21 Access Tutorials & Speech Evaluations
The last of the 5 icons on the Base Camp home page is titled Speech Evaluations. Here we can access tutorials and evaluation resources. Our Pathways team is fielding many questions about how evaluations work within the club setting. Let’s take a quick look inside “speech evaluations.”

22 Interactive tutorials are built into Pathways to help new members learn how to evaluate.
This tutorial will also assist all members learn how the fillable evaluation forms work. This will be highly valuable to members who choose to use the evaluation tools as a digital file (using their tablet or laptop during a club meeting).

23 Along the left side of the branded Toastmaster image is a series of questions.
Each question is an interactive feature – simply click on the question you want an answer to, and the answers appear. Sometimes it will generate a single text answer. Other times, like for question 2, there is both a tutorial and a link to view more resources elsewhere within Base Camp.

24 Every evaluation resource – for every project within each path – is available on this page.
Evaluations are sorted in alphabetical order. Simply select the title, and the PDF of the evaluation form will pop-up. For example If we select Lead in Any Situation . . .

25 We’re just 1 click away from every evaluation form within Pathways!
The resource will become available Indicated with the yellow material icon (looks like a file folder) and launch option. We’re just 1 click away from every evaluation form within Pathways! When we click on Launch . . .

26 The fill-in PDF becomes available for view.
At the top center, we see how many pages – this evaluation is 3 pages (we see it as 1 of 3) At the top right, we can choose to print the file (simply hover over the print icon) Or, if your intention is to fill in the form using your tablet, laptop or other device, you can download the resource, and save the file.

27 Club Dues Renewals Impacts Member’s Access to Pathways
Members who do not pay their dues renewals on time are considered unpaid. As soon as a member is unpaid, they no longer have access to their Pathways education on Base Camp. If Toastmasters International has not received payment for a member’s dues by March 31, the member will be unable to access Pathways on April 1. Base Camp will retain the member’s progress so that once dues are renewed, they will regain access to the system and can continue working where they left off in their educational curriculum. SUGGESTION: Inform your members of this renewal policy. Begin collecting dues for the spring renewal period throughout February and early March. Submit your club dues by March 20th. Be proactive. Submit dues payment online via Club Central. The District may offer incentives for early payment!

28 We can’t end a training segment without a call to action!
Clubs needs to identify one or more strategies to adopt Pathways. After the strategy is determined, SMART goals should be determined and written into your Club Success Plan. SMART goals – Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Realistic, Timebound (These address the who/what/when.) Let’s highlight two possible strategies .
