2 Thesis In the 2nd Battle of the Marne, the German offensive failure in the east allowed French and American forces to mount a successful counteroffensive and drive the Germans back; this put the Germans on the defensive and marked the final failure of the Schlieffen Plan, making it the last major battle of WWI.

This was one of the first times Americans were involved in European wars. African Americans gained more freedom by defying the standards that were set for them in the US army. The outcome of this battle put Germany at a disadvantage throughout the rest of the war (WW1) (NY TIMES)
